Ballot drop boxes in Edmonds, Lynnwood and nine other sites around Snohomish County already are open for the Aug. 4 primary election.
The drop boxes have been open since June 19 even though Snohomish County elections officials won’t send ballots to most voters until July 16.
It’s because officials sent ballots to military and overseas voters last week. While those early ballots are designed to help a soldier in Afghanistan participate in the election, they also could go to a sailor at the Everett Naval Station who could take his ballot across town to the courthouse.
Local drop boxes are near the Edmonds library at 650 Main St., Edmonds, and in front of the Lynnwood city hall, 19100 44th Ave. W., Lynnwood.
The drop boxes will accept ballots through 8 p.m. on election day, Tuesday, Aug. 4.
Mailed ballots must be sent so they have a postmark of Aug. 4 or earlier.
The County will mail local voters’ pamphlets July 15.
