MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — City leaders will celebrate a grand opening and ribbon cutting event for Lakeview Trail at 11 a.m. Oct. 17 at the Ballinger Park entry.
The new 1-mile bicycle and pedestrian path skirts Lake Ballinger Park along Lakeview Drive and 236th Street SW, offering an east-west link from the Interurban Trail to I-5. The trail connects the Interurban Trail at 228th Street SW with the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center and Freeway Station.
A federal grant paid for the bulk of the $3.4 million project. The city credited those who live near the trail and attended planning meetings for providing key input that sparked design changes, such as moving the trail from the east to the west side of Lakeview Drive.
