Camano Island: Learn about shrimp

Mark O’Toole, state Department of Fish and Wildlife shrimp management biologist, plans to give an overview of Puget Sound shrimp at 7 tonight at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 N. East Camano Drive.

O’Toole is set to talk about the types of local shrimp, how the catch quota is determined, allocation between user groups, season determination and recreation fishing gear and techniques.

The program is free and sponsored by the WSU Island County Camano Beach Watchers.

Everett: Judge Ellis to speak to Zonta Club

The Zonta Club of Everett will meet for its annual Celebration of International Women’s Day at a luncheon meeting at noon March 7 at the Everett Golf &Country Club, 1500 52nd St., Everett, WA.

The guest speaker at this year’s luncheon will be Snohomish County Superior Court Judge Janice Ellis, who plans to talk on the topic of violence against women in Indian Country.

Lynnwood: Irish heritage topic of talk

The Sno-Isle Genealogical Society meeting will feature a program on Irish research presented by Ann Moloney Lamb. A short meeting is at 6:30 p.m. March 6 followed by the program at 6:45 p.m., at 19903 Poplar Way, Lynnwood, in Heritage Park.

Lamb is a retired Lake Washington School District teacher, member and past vice president of the Eastside Genealogical Society, and has been a volunteer librarian at the Bellevue Family History Center. She has been teaching “Irish Research Skills” as well as general genealogy for 15 years.

Marysville: Spring craft show planned

The Ken Baxter Community Center, at 514 Delta Ave. in Marysville, is hosting a spring craft show April 13. Quality hand-made gifts including spring and Mother’s Day items, gifts for pets, children, hats, tutus, stained glass, jewelry, plants, garden, wood crafts and much more. Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Applications for outdoor vendors are currently being accepted. Call for an application or email mburgess@marysvillewa.gov This is a juried show. Table cost is $25.

Monroe: Historical society sets talk about archeology

The Monroe Historical Society has scheduled its annual membership program for 10:30 a.m. March 16 at the Monroe Library, 1070 Village Way. Everyone is welcomed.

After the 30-minute meeting, there will be a presentation about local archaeology by Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture staff. They will also hold an identification session where people can bring up to two items that can include American Indian artifacts. There will be no appraisals.
