Programs set for Pearl Harbor Day

Friday is Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. The Pearl Harbor Survivor’s Association offers a program at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Terry’s Corner Fire Station, 848 N. Sunrise Blvd., Camano Island. Survivors and dignitaries will speak.

The Snohomish County Central Memorial Committee offers a program at 11 a.m. Friday at the Snoho­mish County Courthouse, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.

Naval Station Everett offers a Pearl Harbor remembrance ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Friday. The program will honor seven Pearl Harbor survivors, including Shipfitter 3rd Class-Chief Donald Green, USS Pyro (AE1), who will be the guest speaker. A waterfront ceremony will conclude the event with a wreath put in the water in memory of those who lost their lives during the attack on Pearl Harbor.

All veterans are invited to attend. Arrive at the main gate by 8:15 a.m. Tell the gate guards that you’re attending the Pearl Harbor program. No special ID is required.

Share your funny holiday cards

Maybe you snapped a picture just as your toddler was yanking on Santa’s beard. Or the whole family posed in matching elf-wear. Or your dog sported fake antlers.

If those priceless photos are part of your hilarious homemade holiday cards, you have a chance to share them with the world. Send cards to The Herald so we can post them online. The cards can be from this season or past years.

The cards must be original work and people submitting the cards must ensure that they can be reprinted. Include the name of the photographer or artist, a daytime phone number or e-mail address and the names of the people photographed. Include a short description about the card and what makes the season so special for your family. Deadline is Dec. 20.

Learn more about digital cameras at a four-part series beginning at 7 tonight at the Lynnwood Library, 19200 44th Ave. W. Learn what to look for in buying a digital camera, as well as how to use it to its full potential.

The remaining classes in the series are planned for 7 p.m. Jan. 3, 10 and 17.
