Fearless Felix

Fearless Felix

The Man who fell to Earth: Daredevil skydiver Felix Baumgartner landed safely Sunday after a 24-mile plunge over New Mexico.

Video of the feat was streamed live — but with a 20-second delay in case things went horribly wrong. The New York Yankees might consider the same thing for Alex Rodriguez’ at-bats.

Wakey-wakey: President Barack Obama and GOP challenger Mitt Romney stepped away from the campaign trail Sunday to prepare for their debate Tuesday night.

After Obama’s somnambulant performance in the first debate, the president was said to be working on more aggressive responses to Romney — and making sure the backstage green room is stocked with plenty of 5-Hour Energy.

Don’t know much about history: On this day in 1860, an 11-year-old girl told Abraham Lincoln he could improve his appearance by growing a beard. It proved to be sound advice, as Lincoln went on to defeat three opponents in the Nov. 6, 1860, presidential election.

With that historical factoid in mind, perhaps the “October surprise” from Romney and/or Obama will be a five-o’clock shadow at Tuesday’s debate.
