Consider some of the many open houses during our community event this spring.
Come join the fun at the big Open House Weekend on April 28-29 when Snohomish County Camano Association of Realtors® hosts dozens upon dozens of open houses throughout our neighborhoods.
For the past decade, the Open House Weekend has marked the spring renewal of Snohomish County’s home buying season, part of a larger statewide event initiated each year by the Washington Association of Realtors®.
After the long winter, the popular weekend brings out the community and proves to be a perfect time for buyers to revive their dreams of home-ownership and start looking for a home with a fresh outlook. For those selling their home, high buyer demand and our community turnout ensures a lot of traffic. And, it is fun time for those who like to drive around and just browse. There will be lots going on for anyone to enjoy.
Bright, blue Realtor “R” balloons will wave outside each participating home during the weekend. Visitors are welcome to come in and look around at their leisure without any pressure or sales pitch.
This is a free event for those who want to participate. Talk to a Realtor® to find out locationsand times for the weekend’s open houses.
Why Open Houses?
According to a recent survey by the National Association of Realtors® (NAR), 89 percent of home buyers use the internet in their home search scanning neighborhoods, prices and home features.
However, it is tough to truly experience a home from an online photo. Maybe that is why nearly half (48 percent) of homebuyers visit open houses during their home search, according to the NAR survey.
The Open House Weekend is a fun, time-saving opportunity to pick your favorite neighborhoods and experience several homes a day. It is a no-pressure way to see what is out there and consider what you like.
Time for a Wise Investment
Some wonder if it is “a good time to buy,” but the exact timing of a home purchase has little financial impact over the long-term. Homeowners usually come out ahead as their home appreciates over time.
NAR’s chief economist Lawrence Yun estimates that an average homeowner has 45 times the personal wealth of a renter. A large part of the calculation is the equity they earn in their home over the years.
If you have been on the fence, why not come out to the Open House Weekend? Try out a few homes, look for the features you want and consider the solid way your family can steadily build personal wealth.
An Event for the Whole Community
The Snohomish County-Camano Association of Realtors® first hosted the Open House Weekend in 2008. Since then, it has become a highly anticipated event each spring.
“It is a fun weekend for our community and provides a fresh start for the housing market,” says Bob Wold, President of the Snohomish County-Camano Association of Realtors®. “We see everyone from serious buyers to those who just enjoy strolling through homes for something to do on a spring weekend.”
