BELLEVUE — Puget Sound Energy says its electricity customers will find a little winter surprise on their power bills: a one-time credit applied to December and January bills. The utility says the credit will save the average residential electric customer about $40.
PSE said Monday that the credit passes along the financial benefit of the 2010 sale of the utility’s assets in Jefferson County.
No need to ask, because the utility says the credit will appear automatically. Because of varying billing cycles, most customers will see a portion of the credit on their December statement and the rest on their January invoice.
The state Utilities and Transportation Commission recently approved the distribution of more than $59 million.
The utility provides electricity to more than 1.1 million customers in eight Washington counties, including Island, King, Kitsap, Kittitas, Pierce, Skagit, Thurston and Whatcom.
