OLYMPIA — Washington Gov. Jay Inslee has declared a state of emergency in seven counties due to storms bringing heavy rainfall in late January.
Inslee says rainfall from Jan. 21-28 led to flooding, slope erosion and landslides, damaging roads and restricting access to areas in Chelan, Clallam, Clark, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, King, and Skagit counties.
State officials say the estimated cost to repair the damaged roads is over $2 million and many of the roads continue to be compromised.
The proclamation directs state agencies and departments to use state resources and do everything reasonably possible to help in recovery efforts.
