EVERETT — Fans broke out in laughter and the venue broke a record.
Comedian Nate Bargatze set an attendance record last month for the highest number of single-day tickets sold at the 10,000-seat Angel Of The Winds Arena.
The 19,003 tickets sold were for a stop on Bargatze’s Jan. 27 “The Be Funny Tour.” After selling out the initial 7 p.m. show, a second 3 p.m. show was added.
“The community came out in force, and we are honored to have had the chance to collaborate with Nate and his team to set this record that will be very hard to beat,” arena general manager Corey Margolis said in a news release.
The year 2023 finished as the highest event income year in the 20-year history of the arena at 2000 Hewitt Ave. in downtown Everett, the news release said.
This year is off to a good start.
The weekend of Saturday’s Bargatze show, the arena also hosted X-Treme International Ice Racing on Friday and the Harlem Globetrotters on Sunday.
Bargatze also broke attendance records at an arena in Nashville, where he lives. Bargatze has been on Netflix specials and hosted “Saturday Night Live.”
The Angel Of The Winds Arena complex, owned by the Everett Public Facilities District, has a community ice rink and a conference center.
The arena has drawn large turnouts numerous times over the years for musicians including Cher, Carrie Underwood, Green Day, Duran Duran, Justin Bieber and Alice Cooper.
Donald Trump rallied before a packed crowd in the arena two times during his first presidential campaign in 2016.
It was a vaccination site during the pandemic.

The country music concert, “Jon Pardi: Mr. Saturday Night World Tour 2024,” is Friday.
Major League Table Tennis, with world class players, is Feb. 23, 24 and 25. It is billed as featuring “jaw dropping skills and a signature, pulse-pounding Golden Game finale.”
“Paw Patrol LIVE! Heroes Unite” is April 5 and 6.
Professional Bull Riding — with live real bulls — returns to the arena on April 17 and 18.
