Lordie, is there anything worse than opening an e-mail attachment and realizing seconds too late that what seemed so innocuous a few seconds ago is a virulent virus? It’s second only to your loveable grandson letting go of a generous sneeze. In both cases, plan on spending a few days wishing you had been in Nova Scotia when the viruses attacked.
To the rescue comes System Shield AntiVirus and AntiSpyware, a highly rated (by me) program that will help you out of your PC mess but won’t do much for your grandson’s viral generosity. The program, which you can install on up to three PCs, will help rid your computer of 2 million viruses, and get rid of Trojan horses (which masquerade as legitimate programs), viruses that masquerade as legitimate antivirus programs (the cruelest of hackers’ tricks, in my book), worms (which are released when you open e-mail attachments (see above) and rootkits (which allow hackers to take control of your PC).
The program, which includes one year of free updates, also protects your passwords, keeps you safe from spyware, identity theft, keylogging jerks (they can actually read your passwords or other sensitive information as you type them), programs that can trick you into signing up for online financial software (then they steal your money), an insidious one I hadn’t heard of: ransomware, which holds your PC hostage until you pay up), scareware (which tricks you into buying software you don’t need) and more. Lordie, do these hackers have no shame?
System Shield acts like, well, a shield, working in the background to neutralize threats as you go happily on your way. If only the cure for grandson’s virus worked as well.
