Japan Airlines will begin receiving its Boeing Co. 787s three months later than anticipated, according to Flightglobal.
The carrier’s president, Masaru Onishi, told the trade publication that it had received notification from Boeing last month of a new delay to its deliveries. Japan Airlines had expected to receive its first 787 in March 2011, following delivery of the first 787 to launch customer All Nippon Airways, also of Japan, in February.
According to the Flightglobal report, JAL won’t receive its first 787 until June 2011.
Boeing’s popular 787 Dreamliner is running nearly three years behind schedule.
Boeing said it would not comment on its customers’ deliveries.
However, Boeing spokeswoman Jennifer Cram said the company still is targeting first delivery to ANA in February.
Industry observers have speculated recently that rework on early 787s could cause Boeing to delay deliveries after ANA’s.
