The Boeing Co. recently completed natural ice testing on its 747-8 jumbo jet.
The testing is designed to make sure the updated 747 can fly safely in conditions under which natural ice builds on the airplane.
Testing was accomplished by flying through clouds with an adequate amount of moisture present and at temperatures conducive to icing accumulation.
Earlier this week, Boeing released this video of the 747-8 undergoing flight loads survey testing, also described as a roller-coaster ride.
Boeing plans to deliver both the first 747-8 freighter and passenger plane this year.
