Scott Suchan has been promoted to senior vice president and western regional manager at Frontier Bank. In this role, he will oversee Frontier’s office in Clallam, Jefferson and Kitsap counties. He previously was senior vice president and manager of the bank’s Evergreen Way office in Everett.

Steve Dubin of Marysville was one of three salespeople honored for having the highest gross margin increase at Dietrich Metal Framing during the company’s 2003 fiscal year. The Renton company is a subsidiary of Worthing Industries, a diversified metal processing company.
Bruce Landre was named the 2003 Outstanding Credit Union Volunteer of the Year by the Washington Credit Union League. Landre is chairman of the board of the Snohomish County PUD.
Greg Meinhold, a commercial real estate broker with Hospitality Specialist, and Santos Lopez, a Boeing Co. wire assembler, were honored by Gov. Gary Locke during the Department of Labor and Industries’ annual health and safety conference last week in Seattle. Meinhold, of Everett, will be honored for rescuing a drowning man in Silver Lake. He took a canoe out to rescue the man. The canoe had no paddle so he used a cookie sheet. Lopez, of Marysville, saw a crowd of people surrounding a car, stopped to help and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation to save a man who’s heart had stopped.
Kris Passey, the publisher of The Marysville Globe and the Arlington Times, is the first vice president of the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association, which represents 111 community newspapers statewide.

Alfy’s Pizza has been named the official pizza provider for the Everett Events Center. It will be offered from several concession stands during events at the center. The 12-restaurant Alfy’s chain is based in Everett.
Hygia West has changed its name to ReNu. The Everett-based company reprocesses single-use medical devices using a process called high-level disinfection.
Seattle-based Pemco Insurance has been named in a consumer survey as the best auto insurance company for the second year in a row. The survey was conducted by GMA research, which surveyed 400 randomly selected Puget Sound households. Seventeen percent picked Pemco. State Farm was next with 13 percent.

Awards
The Washington Department of Employment Security has won a $25,000 national award for developing and marketing tools that allow employers to file and pay unemployment taxes online. The award was one of three presented by the U.S. Department of Labor as part of its national customer service awards program. It recognizes the department’s E-Pay, UIFastTax and UIWebTax systems. The grant money will be used to expand the program and help other states with similar efforts.
