EVERETT — Homeless and at-risk youth will emerge from Cocoon House’s Butterfly Celebration June 14 armed with silver, gold or platinum achievement awards and feeling hopeful and prepared for a bright future.

The Butterfly Celebration is a community event that celebrates the accomplishments of Cocoon House youth, who will share their personal stories and experiences. It begins at noon June 14 at Comcast Arena, 2000 Hewitt Ave., Everett. Admission is free.

Among the stories is that of one young man who never had a father present in his own life who is now addressing the difficult obstacles to be the father to his own son.

These are teens and young adults who have overcome difficult life experiences in order to put their lives back on track. Their triumph demanded personal commitment and strength. The Butterfly Celebration recognizes the courage our youth have shown and honors each individual’s achievements.

Hear their stories, celebrate their successes and show these young people how much their community admires them. The first Butterfly Celebration took place in 1998.

Admission is free and Cocoon House, Snohomish County’s sole service provider supporting homeless, at-risk teens and families, is expecting hundreds of supporters from Snohomish County and the surrounding communities to turn out for this special annual event.

Special Butterfly Celebration guests include former Snohomish County Executive Bob Drewel and Cocoon House founder Sarri Gilman.
