BOTHELL – Comcast is adding 130 new jobs in its Western Washington offices, including about 25 at the company’s customer service call center in Everett.
Most of the new positions are for front-line cable technicians and customer service representatives.
The job growth is fueled by more business for the company’s phone, digital cable and high-speed Internet services, spokesman Steve Kipp said.
“It’s primarily due to the growth of Comcast Digital Voice, our home phone service,” Kipp said from the company’s regional headquarters in Bothell. “We launched that late last year, and demand has been very good.”
Nationally, Comcast expects to add 1 million customers to its digital phone service this year. The company does not publicize local subscriber figures for its services.
The majority of the new employees will be divided between the call centers in south Everett and Fife and Comcast’s offices in Redmond. The entry-level wage for all the positions starts above $10 an hour.
Once the new jobs are filled in about three months, Comcast’s work force will total nearly 2,800 people in Washington, Kipp said.
