Airbus has delivered to Emirates Airlines its first A380 super jumbo jet. Emirates is the largest customer of the A380 with 58 on order. The airline will put its first A380 into service Aug. 1.
Emirates signed a tentative agreement for 30 A350 XWB jets and 30 A330 aircraft, according to a press release.
The airline, which ordered 70 A350 XWBs with an option for 50 more at last year’s Dubai Air Show, firmed up options for 30 of the A350 XWBs and will eventually increase its total order for the A350 XWB to 100.
“The A350 XWB and A330 will enable Emirates to expand using modern fuel efficient aircraft and alongside the A380 will be key tools in achieving our goals,” said Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of Emirates.
