SEATTLE — Ray Conner, the former president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes who retired last year as Boeing vice chairman, has joined the board of Alaska Air Group, the parent company of Alaska Airlines, Virgin America and Horizon Air.
Conner, who grew up next to Sea-Tac Airport, started at Boeing in 1977 working as a mechanic on the 727 line before rising through the ranks first to an aircraft sales position, then to various management jobs.
In a news release, Alaska said his appointment affirms the company’s commitment to its Pacific Northwest roots as well as its focus on safety and growing a sustainable aircraft fleet.
Conner will serve on the Board’s safety committee.
