If you’re about to renew your car, home or life insurance or buy a new policy, you may be able to save yourself some money.
Several Web sites make it easy for you to check costs by answering some simple questions, such as your age and the location of your home. Check out www.insweb.com, www.insurance.com or www.accuquote.com. You also should check www.insurance.wa.gov, the office of the state insurance commissioner, for more advice. It’s under the Consumers section. For example, you can sometimes save hundreds of dollars just by raising your deductible limit from $500 to $1,000.
In addition to consumer advice, the site allows you to check out the names of insurance companies or brokers to see if they are licensed to do business in Washington. The state also compares the complaints against different companies.
