As pouty and spoiled as a princess can be, actress Ryah Nixon is a hoot and a holler in her Village Theatre mainstage debut as Princess Amneris in “Aida,” a tale set in exotic Egypt about loyalty and betrayal and a classic love triangle. As Amneris, Nixon belts out the doo-wop-inspired song “My Strongest Suit,” which drips with the distinctive musical genius of Elton John, who combined his talent with that of masterful lyricist Tim Rice to produce “Aida.” Though Amneris gives the tragic story its best comic moments, don’t be fooled; this playful pussycat turns into a tiger in the end. “Aida” plays at 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through July 27 at Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave. Tickets range from $15 to $49, 425-257-8600, 888-257-3722, www.villagetheatre.org.
