“Bedroom Farce”: The title is self-explanatory but what you may also want to know about this PG-13-rated romp is that you might see yourself on stage.
Or at least your love life.
You may see yourself as a new lover in a new relationship, much like the daring and impetuous Kate and Malcolm.
Or perhaps you are more into a committed, time-tested affair that has lasted with unshakable resound over the years such as the romance between Earnest and Delia.
Or maybe you are somewhere in the middle, like Trevor and his wife, Susannah.
Trevor and Susannah are either fighting to rekindle the excitement in their relationship or fighting to break free of what has become a bad idea.
Will their bickering and angst consume them? Or even worse, destroy the otherwise solid union of Jan and Nick?
At the end of the day, this show will follow the lives of four couples in the time span of one crazy night with the audience seeing the various stages of love through a lifetime. Each relationship mirrors a quality of trust and security — or the lack thereof — developed over a couple’s time together.
Red Curtain Productions brings this comedy, filled with lots of British wit, set in the 1970s and written by British playwright Alan Ayckbourn.
The show is directed by Kimberly Riley with lots of local theater talent that includes Suzanne Soule, Jennifer Ropella Saul, Sharon Delong and newcomer Jeanine Clarke of Seattle as the wives, and Charlie Butler, Jonathan Hawks, John Klise and Asa Sholdez as the husbands.
“Bedroom Farce” opens at 8 tonight at the Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave., Everett. Shows are scheduled for 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays through May 6.
