Fine tribute: Ann Lenore Putnam, an instructor of creative writing at the University of Puget Sound, has written a moving memoir about old age and dying after the loss of her father and his twin brother.
Putnam will talk about “Full Moon at Noontide: A Daughter’s Last Goodbye” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Third Place Books. The book lists at $22.50.

It’s cake: Local and lively storyteller Margaret Read MacDonald celebrates her 70th birthday by sharing her favorite folktales at 7 p.m. Wednesdayat the Edmonds Library.
MacDonald, the author of more than 55 books and audios, has been a children’s librarian since 1965. Her books include “Fat Cat and Friends,” “The Great, Smelly, Slobbery, Small-Tooth Dog” and many folktale collections.

City birds: A former raptor rehabilitator and seabird researcher, Lyanda Lynn Haupt, set her sights on the ubiquitous crow in her book “Crow Planet: Essential Wisdom From the Urban Wilderness.”
Haupt will talk about her book and the bird at a presentation at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Everett Public Library.
