NEW YORK — Richard Linklater’s 12-year-long family drama, “Boyhood,” leads the Gotham Independent Film Awards with four nominations, including best feature.
The Independent Filmmaker Project announced nominations Thursday for its 24th annual awards Dec. 1 in New York. The Gothams honor independent film and mark one of the first galas in the film industry’s awards season.
“Boyhood” also is up for best actor (Ethan Hawke), best actress (Patricia Arquette) and breakthrough actor (Ellar Coltrane).
Also nominated for best feature are “Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance),” “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “Love Is Strange” and “Under the Skin.” The trio of stars in “Foxcatcher” — Channing Tatum, Steve Carell and Mark Ruffalo — will be given a special jury award for their ensemble work.
