The Ataris are powering up again.
The group’s most famed line-up — the pop-punk guys behind the platinum-selling album “So Long, Astoria” — are on the road 10 years after disbanding. They play the Showbox at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
To mark the occasion, the group will play “So Long, Astoria” in its entirety. That album was both the group’s major label debut on Columbia Records and its biggest hit, featuring the band’s cover of Don Henley’s “Boys of Summer,” along with singles such as “In This Diary” and the title track.
Admittedly, the group’s high-water mark was followed by some lows. The band’s line-up ballooned to seven people at one point, and a shift away from the bright pop punk sounds that made them a perennial favorite on the Warped Tour distanced some fans.
Those issues won’t be center stage when the band hits Seattle, though, as the Ataris instead take a victory lap.
Tickets are $19.99 at showboxonline.com or 888-929-7849.
Martin Sexton is also heading to Seattle. The singer has been kicking around the folk scene for 25 years, establishing himself as one of its most soulful voices.
Sexton, who will headline the Neptune Theatre at 8 Friday night, got his start in Boston, playing coffeehouses. Slowly, he carved out his niche, self-releasing albums and winning fans with a voice reminiscent of Van Morrison.
In the late 1990s, he signed with Atlantic Records, releasing a pair of albums for the label before heading back out on his own.
He’s touring now behind his most recent mini-album, the politically minded five-song EP “Fall Like Rain.”
Tickets are $36.50 at stgpresents.org or 877-784-4849.
Another group with roots in Boston, Lake Street Dive also will play the Neptune Theatre, hitting the venue at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Lake Street Dive draws on jazz and garage rock to make its own odd-duck blend, and seems poised for big things.
It’s biggest success so far has been a cover of the Jackson Five’s “I Want You Back,” released in 2012. But that is about to change.
The group appeared on “The Colbert Report” in February, playing “You Go Down Smooth,” a track off its brand new album, “Bad Self Portraits.” And Rolling Stone billed them on its cover as the best new band of the year.
Tickets are $18 at stgpresents.org or 877-784-4849.
Finally, Galactic are coming to the Showbox at 9 p.m. March 13.
The New Orleans group has won fans with its borderline unwieldy fusion of jazz, hip-hop, funk and R&B.
Known for high energy shows, the group is touring now behind a party album: “Carnivale Electricos,” which saw release on Mardi Gras in 2012 and hit No. 1 on Billboard’s jazz charts.
The group has been playing together since 1994, and built a cultish following in its hometown thanks to its prowess on stage. So Seattle fans can expect a solid show.
Tickets are $26.50 at showboxonline.com or 888-929-7849.
