Who will be the next “Christine” or “Raoul”?
The Northshore Performing Arts Center Foundation is looking for young vocalists to perform in the season opener, “Franc D’Ambrosio’s Broadway” on Oct. 2.
The “Call for Christine or Raoul” contest is open to vocalists age 13 to 21. Two winners will be selected to sing duets from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Phantom of the Opera” on stage with Franc D’Ambrosio at the Northshore Performing Arts Center, a 600-seat theater at 18125 92nd Ave. NE, in Bothell.
D’Ambrosio, one of the world’s longest-running Phantoms after performing the role nearly 3,000 times, will also conduct a master class the day before the concert. All contest entrants will be invited to attend, and six finalists will be chosen to receive vocal and acting instruction on stage in front of the class.
At the end of the class, finalists will perform before D’Ambrosio and a panel of local judges who will select one “Christine” and one “Raoul” to sing in concert the following evening. The winning pair will each also receive two season tickets to NPACF’s 2009-10 season.
An official entry form and a CD recording of the contestant performing two songs must be received by Aug. 21. Detailed contest information and entry forms are available on the NPACF Web site, www.npacf.org, or by calling the Northshore Performing Arts Center Foundation at 425-408-7997.
