Fresh Paint, Everett’s waterfront art festival, has chosen its poster artist for this year.
The Arts Council of Snohomish County selected Janet Hamilton, whose painting entitled “Flying Colors” shows people meandering along the Everett boardwalk with wispy flags waving in the breeze.
Hamilton embraces the plein aire style of painting outdoors, concentrating on the patterns created by the contrasts between light and shadow.
Hamilton teaches weekly painting classes and is a member of the Northwest Pastel Society, the Women Painters of Washington, the Pastel Society of America, and the American Society of Marine Artists. She was also the Arts Council of Snohomish County’s Artist of the Year in 2001, according to her written biography.
“Fresh Paint: Festival of Artists at Work” is an arts council organized event and is in its 14th year.
Fresh Paint takes place each August along the length of the Everett Marina where artists set up booths or work from a mobile hot shop creating glass, pottery or wearable art.
More than 100 artists will be demonstrating and selling their work during this two-day free event Aug. 21 and 22 at the Everett Marina, 1700 W. Marine View Drive.
