Pacific Northwest Ballet will present “Hansel &Gretel,” an hourlong matinee for families, for three performances this weekend and next.
The show was conceived and choreographed by Bruce Wells as a good way to introduce youngsters to dance and theater.
This narrated ballet follows the classic fairy tale of a brother and sister, Hansel and Gretel, who become lost in the forest.
The hungry children are delighted to find a house made of treats. Unfortunately, the house belongs to a witch who has an ulterior motive for creating the enticing cottage.
Like PNB’s previous family productions, “Snow White” and “Pinocchio,” “Hansel &Gretel” features more than 50 ballet students from the PNB school.
Principal dancer Ariana Lallone will be a special guest.
The production also has music by Oscar Nedbal, scenic design by Edith Whitsett and costume design by PNB’s costume shop and Victoria McFall, with lighting design by Randall G. Chiarelli.
“Hansel &Gretel” will have three performances, at noon and 3:30 p.m. Sunday and 1 p.m. March 27 at McCaw Hall, 321 Mercer St., Seattle.
Tickets start at $22 for children and $25 for adults. Call 206-441-2424 or go to www.pnb.org.
