PLANT SALE

Snohomish Conservation District: The district’s 33rd annual Native Plant Sale is 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds, 14405 179th Ave. SE, Monroe. Ground covers, evergreen trees and shrubs, deciduous trees and shrubs, rain barrel kits and more. Volunteers are needed to help bundle, sort and pot plants before and after the sale. Plants are sold online in advance so people can guarantee that the plants they want to buy are reserved for them. Plants are not delivered and must be picked up in Monroe on the day of the sale. Northwest Flower & Garden Festival: Feb. 7-11, Washington State Convention Center, 705 Pike St., Seattle. More than 300 exhibitors, 20 show gardens and dozens of seminars. Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $24; early bird tickets (by Feb. 6) are $19. Two-day pass, $34; five-day pass, $75. Come to this class and learn about fertilizing, pruning, weeding and other maintenance concerns that will give you a jump on preparing your yard and beds for the coming growing season. Sustainable Gardening Winter Speaker Series: Snohomish County Master Gardener Foundation’s series with eight celebrity gardeners, authors and experts sharing their knowledge on a variety of gardening subjects. Lectures are generally held every two weeks from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Fridays from January through early April. Jan. 19: Elisabeth C. Miller Botanical Garden head gardener Holly Zipp, “Indispensable Groundcovers for Northwest Gardens.” The new location this year is Trinity Lutheran Church, 6215 196th St. SW, Lynnwood.
