Comedian Kermet Apio is the affable, guy-next-door type who likes to poke fun at his name and his occupation — he calls himself a “dry humor technician” — and who delivers jokes in an easy, relaxed yet sarcastic way, reminiscent of Ray Romano.
On his MySpace page, Apio talks about first discovering comedy while hiking deep in the Himalayas “with nothing but a mandolin and some lama jerky. My first teacher was a great master who unveiled the three truths of comedy: Find your voice, live the moment and don’t hit on the wait staff.”
Apio also quipped that he would one day like to meet people such as Bill Clinton, Bob Costas, Dan Patrick, Al Franken “and the person who broke into my car.”
Hawaiian-born Apio lives in Seattle but is a traveling comedian who will make a stop in Edmonds for the Driftwood Players’ annual fundraiser for Terrace Park School to benefit its arts and classroom programs.
Apio will host the third annual Comedy Night where he’ll be joined by three comics.
Guests who purchase VIP priority seating will receive drinks and hors d’oeuvres and have a chance to meet the comics.
