It is part ballet, part military drill routine, and more than anything, it is a world-famous equestrian show.
The Lipizzaner Stallions, with impeccably groomed, extremely well-trained four-legged stars and their equally talented human riders, are coming to the Everett Events Center on Saturday and Sunday to dazzle audiences with their showmanship.
Since its beginning in 2003, the Events Center has broadened its horizons from being the home of a hockey team, to a venue for live concerts, to the host of myriad stage shows for children.
It has also hosted world-famous live acts that dazzle audiences with fast-paced action, such as the Barnum and Bailey Circus.
This weekend’s shows will be no exception to that kind of entertainment, as the stallions, a group of white horses trained in taking graceful, military-precise steps as well as performing breathtaking acrobatic maneuvers, will keep their audiences watching for what will come next. The show is approximately two hours long with a 20-minute intermission.
The stallions are not newcomers to the Northwest; they also came to the events center in May 2005.
The current tour includes 12 to 14 horses, whose riders will be dressed in the style of Vienna, Austria’s Spanish Riding School. The music accompanying the performance is Spanish, and the horses’ movements are dressage, or the “art of perfecting the natural gait.”
The Austrian-Spanish mix through all of this comes from the fact that these horses originated in Spain and eventually were cross-bred with Arabian horses as well as other breeds, in Austria, according to press materials.
The Lipizzaner Stallions are returning to Everett Events Center this weekend.
