Garrison Keillor event to support Bellingham film center
“A Prairie Home Companion” star and well-known author Garrison Keillor will join the cast of The Chuckanut Radio Hour for a special performance to benefit Pickford Film Center at 7 p.m. Sept. 16 at Western Washington University’s PAC Mainstage, 516 High St., Bellingham.
Musical guests The Senate and Bellingham’s own Courtney Fortune will perform. A new episode of The Bellingham Bean and an appearance by humor essayist Alan Rhodes round out the evening.
“The Pickford Cinema has made a strong contribution to the arts, entertainment and education of our community and the new film center will continue that tradition,” said Chuck Robinson, owner of Village Books.
Tickets are $42 and may be purchased at Village Books, the Community Food Co-op, the WWU Box Office or online at tickets.wwu.edu. Tickets include a copy of Keillor’s new book, “Liberty,” and $10 from each ticket will be donated to the new Pickford Film Center.
