Need fine china pieces? Replacements, Ltd., here to the rescue

Have you recently inherited an old set of family china or silver with some pieces missing?

Perhaps you just bought some dishes at a garage sale and a few of the plates are chipped or have lost their shine.

Or maybe the stoneware or china set you registered for when you got married is finally coming out of the closet for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner and you need more bowls because you never received the whole set.

If you have pieces missing or some need repair and restoration, the North Carolina-based company Replacements, Ltd., is a good place to go for help.

Replacements began in the early 1980s by North Carolina’s then state auditor Bob Page, who started buying and selling china, silver and crystal as a weekend hobby. The company now has an inventory of nearly 12 million pieces (some stored in the company’s shelves nicknamed the Great Wall of China) and nearly a half-million patterns.

The company offers a free pattern identification service, free tips on care for your special tableware and a concerted effort in finding replacements.

A research team gets about 3,000 requests a week from people who need help identifying patterns they’ve inherited, and the team provides history about those patterns as well.

To learn more about the services offered, call 1-800-737-5223 or go online to www.replacements.com.
