OK Go released its third album, “Of the Blue Colour of the Sky,” last Tuesday.
TRIVIA: Before the group got famous by dancing around on treadmills, OK Go toured with the Chicago Public Radio show “This American Life.”
STANDOUTS: The glossy production of Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, MGMT) shines on “White Knuckles,” one of the album’s most infectious tracks.
FANS DIG: Paisley vests.
ANDY SAYS: OK Go has praised “Purple Rain” for a decade, so it’s no huge surprise the stylish power pop group is finally mimicking Prince’s sound. The 1980s influence serves the group well, as it crafts its most consistent and joyful album to date.
GRADE: A-minus
