LOS ANGELES – Ashton Kutcher’s popular prank show, “Punk’d,” is coming to an end after eight seasons on MTV.
“Punk’d” is a version of the old “Candid Camera” show that preys on young celebrities. Among those who have fallen victim to a practical joke: Justin Timberlake, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey and Frankie Muniz.
The final season premieres Tuesday, but all eight new episodes will air back-to-back during a “sneak-peek marathon” Saturday, Viacom Inc.’s MTV said.
Hilary Swank, Magic Johnson, Nelly Furtado and Jewel fall victim to Kutcher’s capers this time around.
Kutcher, 29, will host a special “Punk’d Awards” on June 5.
In December 2003, Kutcher said he was the pulling the plug on the show. Speculation arose that the announcement was a trick aimed at duping new celebrity prank victims into complacency. “Punk’d” returned in April 2004.
