Hot hue: Pantone, a global authority on color forecasting for designers, recently announced its color of the year for 2009. Mimosa, a warm and bright yellow, “brings hope and optimism during a time of economic uncertainty and political change,” according to Pantone.
Best illustrated by the vibrant flowers of the mimosa tree or the sparkle of the brilliantly hued cocktail, it’s a color that “exemplifies the warmth and nurturing quality of the sun, properties we as humans are naturally drawn to for reassurance,” said Bainbridge Island-based Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Mimosa also speaks to enlightenment, as it is a hue that sparks imagination and innovation.”
Look for the hue in the coming year in home furnishings, women’s accessories, active sportswear, and men’s ties and shirts.
Mimosa is one of the 3,000 colors available in Pantone’s line of eco-friendly paint. Get an online view of the orangey, neon-mustard color by clicking on “about us” and “news,” at www.pantonepaint.com or call 866-692-6567.
