Whidbey Island’s wineries pair up with the island’s food producers for an event that will combine new releases and well-known favorite wines with fresh harvests and locally grown flavors.
From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday visit the tasting rooms at these wineries: Greenbank Cellars, 3112 Day Road; Holmes Harbor Cellars, 4591 Honeymoon Bay Road; and Whidbey Island Winery, 5237 Langley Road. Taste 4 Wines at the Bayview Corner Cash Store, 2812 E. Meinhold Road, is the tasting room for Blooms Winery, Ott &Murphy Wines and Spoiled Dog Winery, which is releasing its wines, including an estate-grown pinot noir, for the first time.
At Greenbank Cellars, the Strawfield Farm will do some buttery egg and herb tart samples among other tasty offerings, said Virginia Bloom, director of operations at Greenbank Farms.
Live Edge Farm is going to be creating something special for the Taste 4 Wines tasting room, she said, and Whidbey Pies Catering will use fresh Screaming Banshee bread to create crostini with assorted toppings including cheese and fresh organic herbs at the Greenbank Farm Wine Shop Tasting Room.
At Holmes Harbor Cellars, Maryon Atwood, who makes ceramic baking stones, will cook some beef treats with a local beef producer.
Whidbey Island Winery will pair up with Pickles Deli, who will create wraps stuffed with locally grown beef and greens from the winery garden.
Tickets are available on www.brownpapertickets.com or at any of the venues. Advance tickets are $20. At the event tickets will be $25. Price includes the tasting at each venue and a souvenir glass with the Whidbey Island Vintner logo.
