Say aloha to a ukulele ensemble from Langley, B.C.

Langley Ukulele Ensemble: About 20 musicians age 13 to 21 from Langley, B.C., will perform two benefit concerts for east county and Snohomish senior centers. The 25-year-old ensemble performs 50 to 80 concerts a year and has been the incubator for many of Canada’s top ukulele players, including James Hill, once dubbed the Wayne Gretzky of ukulele. Oct. 28, Snohomish.

Linda Waterfall: The singer and songwriter has addressed the human condition in many musical styles, including two major choral works. Now she celebrates her 10th recording, “Place of Refuge.” Oct. 28, Seattle

Earshot Jazz: The stars are out at the festival, a showcase for jazz talent near and far. Performers include 2005 Earshot Golden Ear musician of the year Bill Anschell, big-band legend and bop-inspired pianist Toshiko Akiyoshi, vibes master Bobby Hutcherson, African jazz guitarist Lionel Loueke, hard-bop Industrial Revelation, iconic Hammond B3 organist Lonnie Smith and the Kamikaze Ground Crew. Oct. 27-Nov. 5, Seattle.

Reckless Kelly: The band named for the 19th-century Australian bank robber Ned Kelly has roots in Idaho and Oregon but found its country-rock stride in Austin. The quintet is led by brothers Willy and Cody Braun, who emphasize harmonies and lead the way with acoustic guitar, fiddle and mandolin. Nov. 2, Seattle.

Battle 4 Seattle: The first annual hip-hop show features MC Battle and performances by local artists, including Unexpected Arrival, Dyme Def, Relentless Intent, 3 Strikes, Macklemore, Tha Reason Records, D. Black, Anthony Shears, Estrella, Alujzun and Grynch. It’s hosted by KUBE 93’s Vinnie the Pooh. Oct. 27, Seattle.

Keiko Matsui: The contemporary jazz pianist returns for four nights and seven shows. She’s sold more than 1.2 million albums in the United States and performs before packed concert halls with listeners eager to hear her stylish melodies and gentle grooves. Her latest recording is “Walls of Akendoa.” Nov. 2-5, Seattle.

Sadao Watanabe: The alto saxophonist, originally from Japan, performs with the Peter Erskine Trio. Watanabe’s credits include playing with Chick Corea and the Galaxy All-Stars. His bop is inspired by Charlie Parker. Drummer Erskine played for years with the Stan Kenton Orchestra, Maynard Ferguson and the Weather Report. Oct. 31-Nov. 1, Seattle.
