Schack-toberfest begins Thursday with Beer & Brat Night

EVERETT — The Schack wants to get young adults involved in the activities of the art center, and Beer &Brat Night during Schack-toberfest has been a good draw.

This year’s event is 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Schack Art Center, 2921 Hoyt Ave. Tickets are $25 or $20 for Schack members.

While the local band Preacher’s Wife performs, those who attend Beer &Brat Night will savor gourmet bratwurst from Das Brat Wagen, wet their whistles with pints of local brew, whet their appetites for art by watching a glassblowing demonstration in the hot shop. Alternatives to the beer are wine, hard cider or non-acoholic drinks to fill your souvenir Schack glass. If a brat doesn’t appeal, veggie dogs will be available.

In addition, patrons that night are eligible for a 10 percent discount when they buy glass pumpkins from the giant pumpkin patch in the middle of the gallery floor.

Schack-toberfest continues through Sept. 27, with free admission to see the glass pumpkin patch in the Schack’s main gallery.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Kids activities are 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

More than 600 glass pumpkins of varying colors, shapes and sizes are displayed and available for purchase. Prices start at $30 for small pumpkins similar to paperweights and go up to several hundred dollars for large pumpkins and gourds. Most are in the $35 to $75 price range.

It’s possible for you to make your own glass pumpkin in the Schack’s hotshop.

Reserve a spot by and get help from a professional glass artist. It’s takes about 20 minutes. Older children are welcome.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 26 and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays, Sept. 27 through Oct. 25.

Call 425-259-5050 to make an appointment. Cost is about $50.
