Two upcoming events at the Mountaineers in Seattle next week caught my eye. Here they are:
DamNation: See the film DamNation on Tuesday at the Mountaineers in Seattle, 7700 Sand Point Way NE.
A reception begins at 6 p.m. follow by the film at 7 p.m. and an expert panel discussion at 8:30 p.m. The event is free.
DamNation examines the changing attitudes about dams around the nation and the world. The removal of the Elwha River dams on the Olympic Peninsula is featured.
Volcano: WSU ecologist John Bishop will talk about how life has returned to Mount St. Helens, 34 years after the blast. Bishop will speak from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Mountaineers in Seattle, 7700 Sand Point Way NE. The event is free.
Bishop’s talk will focus on the re-emergence of plants in the Mount St. Helens blast zone. One of the pioneers is a dwarf lupine, and now many tree species are showing up, including conifers.
