50 YEARS AGO (1959)
Honor Society of Olympic View Junior High School, Mukilteo, had as a community service project participation in World Clothing Week, where they gathered clothes for the needy. Margaret Kimball was their adviser. Among the girls were Beryl Florence, Linda McEwen and Marie Cook.
The seventh-grade boys of Mrs. Irwin’s class at Lincoln Junior High School, Marysville, started a hot rod club. They were David Rhodes, Bill Jahn, Charles Regan, Alan Otter, Ray Huffman, Bud Robinson, Charles Rollins, Peter Falleen, Ronald Nelson, Donald Barnhill, David Stalter and John Marks. Interested in designing cars, the boys were making a miniature drag strip.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
Hill’s Peterson Appliance Center at 1912 Hewitt Ave. had new and used sales, service and parts on Maytag, Speed Queen, Hotpoint, Amana, Kitchenaid, Kelvinator, Sylvania and Hoover. Financing was available.
Century 21 Smith/Ring of Everett was having an open house at Suncrest Terrace in Marysville. Many models were available from $54,950, starting from $1,500 down and $461 per month. There were free hot dogs, coffee and punch 11 a.m. until dark on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
