50 YEARS AGO (1958)
Something new had been added at Firestone — the amazing new Visualiner. The device magnified alignment faults eight or more times so drivers and mechanics could see a continuous graphic picture of alignment conditions. The Firestone outlet in Everett was located at 2701 Hoyt Ave.
The 1959 Pontiac was on display tomorrow at Simpson Pontiac Motor Co., 3002 Rucker Ave. First of the split-grill Pontiacs, it was the only American automobile with wide-track wheels. Like the other General Motors models, the four-door hardtop had a Vista-lounge interior with full 360-degree visibility. The three series were the magnificent Bonneville, dramatic Star Chief and brilliant new Catalina.
25 YEARS AGO (1983)
A coffee hour to honor Ruth Seager and her 90th birthday would be Sunday following the morning service of the Everett First Covenant Church, 4502 Rucker Ave.
The Rev. Dr. Ernest Hastings was celebrating his 15th anniversary as pastor of Everett First Baptist Church at a reception hosted by the congregation on Sunday following the morning service. Under his leadership, the church helped to organize the Cross J Ranch in Darrington as state-licensed facility for boys.
