50 YEARS AGO (1958)
Preliminary plans for the formal dedication of the Marysville Post Office were announced this week. The committee in charge included John Hulvey, chairman, with Postmater Leon L. Stock and Mrs. W.H. Black. Music would be provided by the Marysville High School Band.
The new Lakewood Elementary School was completed and soon the nine-room structure would be occupied by its 270 students. Paul Powers was the principal. The building was designed by Botesch &Brown Architects and built by Puget Sound Builders, both of Everett.
25 YEARS AGO (1983)
The John Fluke Manufacturing Co. planned to expand its work force by 600 in 1985 after building a new electronics equipment assembly plant in southwest Everett. The firm hoped to construct a 280,000-square-foot building, one of a number of development phases planned by the company before the end of the century.
Everett’s football team had a 17-7 non-conference victory over Roosevelt to the delight of its homecoming crowd at rain-drenched Everett Memorial Stadium. Coach Tony Whitefield was pleased with Gull play, especially that of Chris Slater and Bryan Soriano.
