50 years ago (1963)
Making her first sale of candy for the Salvation Army organization the Sunbeams, was Sheila Lenderman, 7, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Lendeman, 3406 Nassau St. The willing purcchaser was Lt. Robert Pantsler of the Everett Salvation Army. The sale would continue until all 500 boxes were sold.
Hoddie Tanneberg, Carolyn Keeler, Beverly Cook, Cherry Wise and Jerry Wise, students at Marysville Junior High School, were part of the cast of the school’s talent show, Showboat, which would be given Tuesday in the school gymnasium. A wide variety of musical entertainment was planned.
25 years ago (1988)
Arden Flom, Everett Community college theater director, received a gold medal for excellence in the performing art from the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Presented at a recent Northwest Drama Conference in Pullman, the award was in recognition of Flom’s leadership in the regional division of the American College Theater Festival.
Karl’s Bakery invited all to attend their wedding cake and catering extravaganza at the Everett Mall “Love Story” Bridal Show. Karl’s created wedding orders and catering to match all dreams. The bakery was at 2814 Wetmore Ave.
