50 YEARS AGO (1959)
Acceptance of the Snohomish County March of Dimes chairmanship by Bob Fankhauser was announced by Bud Alexander, president of Snohomish County chapter of the national group. Fankhauser, a graduate of Snohomish High School, was busy finding people for the fundraising effort.
At least 400 feet of earth beneath Great Northern Railway tracks east of Monroe was washed out yesterday by surging flood waters. The track, still intact but with a dip like a giant rollercoaster ride, paralleled the Stevens Pass Highway. The washout was nearly 20 feet deep, and the Skykomish River was continuing its rampage.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
More than 200 musicians appeared in the annual Festival of Christmas by Bethany Christian Assembly of Everett. Tickets for the show at the Civic Auditorium were available at the church on Everett Avenue or at the Creative Needle on Everett Mall Way.
Carole Morgan journeyed recently to Vancouver, B.C., for a publisher’s party celebrating a new book by evangelist Billy Graham. She was the owner-manager of Morgan’s Bible and Music Center in Lynnwood.
