50 years ago (1962)
Flipping through the pages of one book in his 15-volume set of Richards Topical Encyclopedia, which he was awarded, was David Blacker, 14, of 611 Cabot Drive. David received the set when his question on aeronautics was answered in the Under 20 column.
On the front page was a photo of Jim Bennett temping fate by walking under a ladder. Today, Friday the 13th, was his 13th birthday. He was also born on Friday the 13th. Jim was the middle brother of the five sons of Mr. and Mrs. John Bennett.
25 years ago (1987)
In new positions were Jeanette Mitchell, who was appointed operations manager of Edmonds National Bank, and Wayne Howell, who had joined the real estate firm of Wm. Krause &Associates of Mill Creek. Mitchell, a graduate of Meadowdale High School, had been with First Interstate Bank of Washington. Howell was previously a partner in a distributorship.
A new business, Tres-P.R., had recently moved into the Small Business Development Center in Everett. The new public relations and marketing firm was owned by Cindy Laue. She was a strategies consultant and could manage specific preparation campaigns.
