50 years ago (1962)
Michael McIntyre and Leann Benson were honored as Man and Woman of the year at Everett Junior College. Others receiving commendations at the college were Laurence M. Dorman on his record as top male scholar of the sophomore class, and Kay Alexander, whose 3.87 grade point average was the highest of all sophomores.
The Hand Out, on Highway 99 South and on the way to the Century 21 World’s Fair Seattle, advertised real honest hamburgers, prawns, fish-n-chips and chicken. Clarence and Ella Jones were the owners.
25 years ago (1987)
Today was Scoop Jackson Day as the community marked the 75th anniversary of the senator’s birth. It was a good time to take a retrospective look at Henry Jackson’s life four years after his death. It was a time to learn from and benefit from the example of his life.
Tomorrow was the grand opening of the Arlington Branch of Pioneer Bank. There would be refreshments and gifts. Those attending could enter the drawing for a fabulous weekend for two in Victoria at the Laurel Point Inn. By Jack O’Donnell from Herald archives at the Everett Public Library.
