50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Commercial Cadets, stenography club at Everett High School, met in the sophomore study hall to participate in a question and answer forum with a panel of four local business people. Representing the business community were Carol Amundson, Phyllis Sarkisian, John Becker and Mozelle Goodwin.
Roosevelt PTA was meeting in the school to hear the Rev. Paul Baughman talk on the Snohomish County Family Counseling Service program. The PTA membership drive would close with the meeting and room prizes would be awarded. Following a film on Scouting, refreshments would be served in the school cafeteria.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
The nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Nimitz would call Bremerton home for two years before moving across the Sound to its permanent home, Everett, according to U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks. Also, a congressional committee recommended funding the proposed naval base here.
Dave Johnson was named advertising manager at The Herald, it was announced today by Roger Christensen, vice president, sales and marketing. Johnson had been the paper’s classified manager since May 1983. Before that he was assistant classified advertising manager for the Columbian in Vancouver, Wash.
