50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Scott Mitchell, an evangelist from Lawrence, Kan., was to begin serving the Church of Christ at 25th and Rucker this Sunday. He was a graduate of Central Christian College of Bartlesville, Okla., and Abilene Christian College of Abilene, Texas. He, his wife and their 21/2-year-old daughter made their home at 3201 Nassau.
Gordon Carpenter was elected commander of the Marysville Post of the American Legion. Other officers were Lloyd Fitch, Don Blair, William A. Carpenter, Floyd Turner, Clarence Marsh, Brad Bartlett, Jerry Ross, Roy Haugen, C.L. Scharff, A.H. Robison and Stanley Schaefer.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Geoff Wright of Everett was named one of the nation’s top 30 district directors by the United States Jaycees. The awards were presented last week at the Jaycees’ national leadership training meeting in Indianapolis.
Jeff Prewitt, 11, of Everett was named the Oregon-Washington-British Columbia regional junior golf champion after a recent tournament at the Stuart Park Golf Course in Roseburg, Ore. He would advance to the first annual North American Junior Golf Championship at the Desert Inn Country Club in Las Vegas.
