50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Maggie Day of 2220 Oakes was enjoying her house guest, sister Hattie Anderson, 20 years younger than Day. The two had never seen each other before; the older sister was married before the younger was born.
Two of Everett’s youthful bowling enthusiasts, Sandra Quigley and Floyd Persson, looked over some of the prizes offered in the March of Dimes bowling tournament. More than $800 had been received at the city’s four bowling houses. Sandra had a 126 average, while Floyd packed a mighty 191.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
City transit passengers were to have shelters at 10 more bus stops by next spring. Locations included Colby at 23rd and 39th, the High Rise Apartments on Poplar, Everett High School, Fourth at Everett Mall Way, Evergreen at 50th and 95th, 19th at 100th, and 112th at 16th.
A daylong informational seminar at the Everett Pacific Hotel feature more than a dozen speakers from industry, higher education and financial institutions. One subject to be discussed was exporting cattle. Recently 387 Holstein dairy cows were sent to China in two 747 flights.
