50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Past President’s Plaque was presented to Blanche Bates by Eleanor Kuhlmann, new president of Snohomish County Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Association, at ceremonies at the Monte Cristo Hotel. Other new officers installed were Sally Morris and Betty Walker.
Members of the Everett High School band were practicing in anticipation of pre-Easter car washes they were offering this weekend at Spur‘s Flying A, B&M Shell and Mel Thistle Shell. Funds would go toward transportation to a parade in Victoria, B.C. where they would perform. Among them were George Forman, Dale Olson, Craig Osborne and Tad Engman.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Everett police had begun their planned sweep on cruisers on Evergreen Way. Business leaders had complained recently about traffic, noise and litter problems. Lt. Pete Hagge estimated that officers made as many as 300 contacts with teens, but did not know how many had actually received citations for traffic offenses.
City Radiator Service at 3209 Rucker Ave. was a specialist in radiators, heaters, air conditioners and heat exchangers. A coupon in the paper was good for $10 off radiator repair or replacement or valid on a purchase of $30 or more.
