50 YEARS AGO (1959)
In keeping with the regular program of the club, the Everett Rock and Gem Club yesterday presented a check to Evergreen Junior High School to aid its new library. The funds would be used to purchase books on lapidary for the school. R.E. Osborne, principal, and Shirley Moses, librarian, accepted the money from Mahlon Robinson and Dr. George Moll of the gem club.
The first substantial snow of the season pelted Stevens Pass last night, leaving at least 7 miles of the highway covered and slippery. The Everett headquarters of the State Patrol said 4 inches of new snow fell in the pass area.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
Ed Glewaski, an Everett High School student, received a “Leadership and Commitment Award” from the Seattle Aquarium in recognition of his four years of volunteer work in the aquarium’s Naturalist Program. It was a summer program in which young volunteers worked with the staff.
People could sign up now for silk and dried flower arrangement classes that ran from now until Christmas at International Imports, 4917 Evergreen Way in the South B&M Center. There was a $2 registration fee.
